Anthony J. Taylor is a proud Gen-Z Texan, raised in Silsbee, TX, where the Piney Woods meet the Gulf Coast. Anthony grew up in a working-class household in Southeast Texas. His parents raised him to be rooted in his faith and serve his community. His earliest lessons came at a young age from his dad, who was a former city councilman. Anthony was out in the community campaigning, learning the true value of the grassroots.
In 2020, as the world faced a global pandemic and global unrest, Anthony saw how urgently young people needed a voice in government. Motivated by the failures of leadership, he stepped up by helping lead a campaign for the city council seat his father once held.
Anthony is pictured with Silsbee City Councilwoman Tina Young Holman, who was elected to the at-large seat in May 2024, with Anthony as campaign manager.
Anthony is pictured with his mentor State Rep Christian Manuel, who is one of the youngest Democratic and First Black & Gay members in the Texas House of Representatives.
Since then, Anthony’s commitment to building youth power has only grown. After graduating from Silsbee High School with a diploma and an associate’s degree from Lamar Institute of Technology, he went to the University of North Texas, where he served as President of two student organizations and a Student Government Association senator. In 2023, during his final semester, Anthony served as Legislative Director in the Texas House of Representatives for State Representative Christian Manuel, working directly on the policies that shape our future.
Now, as the current President of the Texas Young Democrats. Anthony has been working to engage young people across Texas, bringing them back into the fold of the Democratic Party and training them to run campaigns, lead organizations, and become the next generation of elected officials and party leaders; from recruiting members for Texas Young Democrats to supporting local chapters with resources and training, he’s focused on making sure no Young Democrat in Texas feels left out or left behind.
His passion remains rooted in creating a political home where young Texans can thrive, lead, and win.
